For our Whanau

This page has useful information to help our families get prepared for school life. From having the right stationery, to wearing the correct uniform, to knowing the options for after school care or extra curricular activities.

Our day to day communication with parents and caregivers is by email and/or through the school app. If you don’t have the school app yet, download SchoolAppsNZ from your app store, search for Parnell School and turn on notifications.

School payments

Whether you’re wanting to pay your camp fees, school donation or a variety of other non-curricular fees, payment can easily be made on our shop page.

Stationery Lists

We recommend purchasing student’s stationery through OfficeMax. For ease, all year level lists have been uploaded to their website – simply select your child’s year group then add the items to your cart.

Sports information and clubs

At Parnell District School, we value the important role that physical activity plays in promoting wellbeing, teamwork, and personal growth. Through participation in sport, students develop not only their physical fitness and skills, but also confidence, cooperation, and perseverance. All children will take part in our Physical Education programme as part of core learning. In addition to this, children in years 5-8 will have the opportunity to trial to represent the school in a variety of sports tournaments with our local schools.

Children will also have the opportunity to join teams and coaching through the Friday Fizz and OE programmes. Information for these will be communicated through our newsletter.

School teams

We have school teams representing PDS in Foundation Basketball and Auckland Netball leagues during term time. Information about registration for these sport opportunities is shared in the school newsletter – look out for information about specific year group opportunities.

We warmly encourage parents to get involved! We are always looking for enthusiastic parents to coach or manage our basketball and netball teams.

Local clubs

Parnell District School has long established relationships with local clubs and teams. By working with our local clubs, we ensure our children get high quality coaching, alongside many of their school friends.

C4 Out of
School Care

Welcome to C4, our vibrant before-and-after-school care programme at Parnell District School. Established by our Board in 2018, C4 runs every weekday both before school hours and after the final bell, as well as during school holidays. It’s exclusively available for children enrolled at PDS, making it a familiar and welcoming space for our students.

At C4, we foster a community of coaching, care and creativity. Our dedicated manager, Claire, and her team look forward to welcoming your children into an environment where they can thrive outside regular school hours. The programme extends to offering a range of extra curricular classes, giving more opportunities for students to explore their interests. For details on these classes, please check out our extra curricular section.

Join us:

  • After school from 3:00pm – 6:00pm
  • In the holidays from 8:00am – 6:00pm

Bookings for C4 are made through AimyPlus, ensuring a smooth and easy reservation process. We’re excited to support your family’s needs and provide a safe, engaging, and fun environment for your children.

Extra Curricular

We’re proud to offer a wide range of extracurricular opportunities through our C4 programme. These activities give students the chance to explore their interests, build new skills and have fun outside of regular school hours. From drama to skateboarding and everything in between, children can explore a range of activities alongside with schoolmates without leaving the school grounds.

All Parnell District School students are welcome to join, and signing up is easy. Visit pds.aimyplus.com to browse and book the activities that best suit your child. Our schedule of extra curricular activities is regularly updated, so please check the newsletter for the latest info. The full 2026 lineup will be shared in mid January 2026!

Volunteering

Be Part of Our Vibrant School Community

At Parnell District School, we cherish the incredible support of our parents, whānau, and local community. Your willingness to volunteer enriches our school and helps us create a warm, supportive environment for our tamariki.

Ways You Can Volunteer:

  1. Join the Whānau and Friends Group
Our Whānau and Friends is the heart of our fundraising efforts. This parent-led group organises events that bring our community together and raise vital funds for the school. Whether you’re keen to cook a sausage sizzle, sell ice creams or help organize a major event, there’s always room for more amazing helpers.
  2. Support our sports teams
We’re always on the lookout for enthusiastic coaches and managers to help our children develop their sports skills. If you have experience or just a passion for sports, we’d love to have you involved in coaching or managing a team.
  3. Share your time and talents
From assisting in classrooms to supervising road patrol, returning resources, or keeping our gardens in top shape, every little bit of help truly counts. We are incredibly lucky to have such a wealth of skills and knowledge in our community, and we deeply appreciate how our parents and whānau use those talents to support our students.

If you’d like to volunteer,
contact the office and we’ll make sure your offer of help reaches the right person. Thank you for being such an important part of our school whānau!
